"Speak, friend, and Enter."

Sure maybe in the old days but now this place is just dark and ugly. What on earth would posses a man to go here once let alone wish to return? A place filled with foul creatures and evils untold in the 3rd Age.

They say the dwarves carved this big hole in the ground in the second age. It was their hiding place from the evils on the outside but little did they know they would find a huge evil inside.

I do not recommend venturing there unless you have a wizard readily at hand.  Aragorn doesn't wish to return, and Frodo will only go if Gandalf advises it. Only little Gimli seems eager to follow in the steps of his ancestors.

What is it with that Lake by the Gate? It is pretty scary. Oh no!!! What  is that? Poor Bill!

Even the great Gandalf was afraid to make noise inside. The fool of a Took better throw himself into that well next time because he is making too much noise!!

Ssshhhh!!! I hear the patter of little feet behind us. What could that be??? Who ever said the quickest way to get by mountains is to go under them is down right crazy.

Thus we come to a room in which a large tomb is made of white stone. On which there are runes carved on it. It says:

BALIN SON OF FUNDIN
LORD OF MORIA

Here they come!!!! Who???? Orcs from the deep they know we are here!!!! And a big cave troll!!! The battle ensues. Quick we must make it to the bridge. Aww the bridge of Khazad-Dum we are almost out! Legolas is gripped with fear!! But wait what is that??????

BALROG!!!!

" ' A Balrog', muttered Gandalf. 'Now I  understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.' "

Gandalf stands on the bridge facing his foe and urging everyone to flee.

"You cannot pass. I am  a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun. Go back to the shadow! You cannot pass."

The Balrog leaps on to the bridge and it collapses sending both he and Gandalf hurling in to the black depths. The last thing you hear as you flee from Moria is:

"Fly, you fools!"
