| My review of the Fellowship of the Ring Soundtrack: I am a huge fan of classical music and movie scores. I found this soundtrack to be very delightful and well suited for the story. It is both dark in nature in many tracks yet filled with a sense of hope. Some of the tracks have singing in Elvish, which is something you will not find anywhere else. This gives it a real Tolkien feel. One can tell by just listening to it that the music will not drown out the film but it will compliment it nicely. My favorite tracks are The Prophecy (1), Concerning Hobbits (2), The Black Rider (5), and The Breaking of the Fellowship (17). Enya's May It Be (18) is a very beautiful song filled with a sense of hope and courage in dark times. Overall it is a wonderful combination of many styles of music creating a mythical feel. While not my favorite sound track ever, (that honor goes to the soundtrack for the movie Glory) it ranks highly up there. -----Tony Zerhusen |
