Sauron

A Maia Spirit and Lord of the Rings. Once the chief Lieutenant of Melkor the Dark Lord. In the Ages of Darkness when Melkor ruled Utumnoand in the Ages of the Stars when Melkor was chained by the Valar, Sauron ruled the evil Realm of Angband. After Melkor was cast into the void, Sauron disappeared. He reappeared in Middle-Earth in the 5th century of the Second Age as Annnatar “Giver of Gifts.” In 1500 he seduced the Elven-Smiths of Eregion into forging Rings of Power. Then made himself the Ring Lord by forging the One Ring. In the War of Sauron from 1693 to 1700 he laid waste to Eregion only being stopped by the Numenoreans. For the next 1,500 years he built up his powers in Mordor and brought the men in the east and south under his control. The Numenoreons finally came to make war with Sauron in 3262, but their power was great and he surrendered to them. He corrupted them and brought the total destruction of Numenor. In this cataclysm his fair form was destroyed, but his spirit fled to Mordor and with the One Ring made himself into the Dark Lord- a fearsome warrior with black armor on burnt black skin with raging eyes. However this form was also destroyed at the end of the second age when the Ring was cut from his hand. However since the Ring was not destroyed his spirit was able to rise again. In 1000 of the 3rd Age he took the form of a lidless eye and hid himself for nearly a 2,000 years in Mirkwood Forest and was known as Necromancer. He sent the Ringwraiths to search for his One Ring. In 2941 he re-entered Mordor and began to rebuild the Dark Tower. He launched the War of the Ring in 3018, but he met his demise when Frodo cast the Ring into Mt Doom. His spirit never did rise again.
